Peggy Phelan's book about these "Beziehungen zwischen dem Selbst und den Anderen, wie sie sich auf Fotos, GemŠlden, in Filmen, im Theater, in politischen Protesten und in der Performance Art darstellen" (relations between the self and the other like they present themselves in photographs, paintings, in films, in theatre, in political protests and in performance art) addresses this subject from a feministic point of view and assumes that large areas of culture and society are kept away from the ruling discourses.
