Stefan Wiegleb: Iris and Epidermis
centrifugalnote 100 x 100 cm, 2002
bindedcolour on paper

When Wiegleb says: I AM THE PIGMENT, then his ego in an identificational act is multiplied by the uncountable elements, which are thrown by his painting machine centrifugally at the same time in many directions of the space. The in the beginning identified centre  is emptied, the ego matter evaporizes. The process lead by power and non-power leads to no planned aim, but leaves marks which can be looked at with aesthetical criterias, as long as those have been noted by resisting material.

The ostensibly human command over the machine (Weibel: Die Beschleunigung in der Chronokratie/theacceleration in the chronocraty)  is been shows as deception by Wiegleb.
From the outside seen as aesthetical sign, the process is a geared one as far as the pigment is concerned. The artist states marginal
constitutions which shorten gestural painting to the starting impulse, which then derive the following mechanical process of the centrifuge  as necessary result.
When Wiegleb states: I AM THE PIGMENT, he is the accelerator and the accelerated at the same time.
