Stefan Oppermann comes from illustration, from 1:1 of sign and notation. He studied at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Hamburg (special college) (today called HAW), department design, with Friedrich Einhoff and works as a teacher at the Bildkunst Akademie (academy of pictures art )
1998 to 2000 he was on the Hans-Günther-Baass- Atelierstipendium (scholarship named after
Hans- Günther-Baass) of the cultural department of the Hamburg government, 2003 to 2004 the Atelierstipendium Künstler zu Gast in Harburg (scholarship of the studio of guest artists in Harburg).
He took part in various group exhibitions, for example in 1999 Malerei bis Multimedia (from painting to multimedia), group exhibition in Haus der Kunst (name of an exhibition house), Munich, 2001 Menschliches allzu Menschliches (human, all too human), group exhibition in Schloss Agathenburg (name of a castle) and
Deep Darknes - über die Motivation Böses zu tun (-about the motivation to do bad) group exhibition in Altonaer Museum (museum in Altona, Hamburg).
In 2004 he had a solo exhibition in Kunstverein Harburger
Bahnhof

(confederation for fine art in the train station of Harburg).
At the same time as this exhibition runs he is represented with a 10-block pen-drawings in a large format at the current BBK-(association of professional fine artists) - group exhibition at the Kunsthaus Hamburg (a public building for modern exhibition in Hamburg) untill
18.09.2005.

Through his work his attention was drawn to the approach of Vanessa Beecroft and Rachel Whitread. As a paralell appearance to the latter one can understand that one of his drawings where so-to-say the inner of a car has been cast but it was forgotten to have the people in it removed - or are these no people?

I wish you sensitive viewing for you so that you can perceive what Stefan Oppermann offers the substitute to feel.
Thankyou very much for your patience listening and an enjoyable evening for all of us.
And as said before: beginning at 9 p.m. videos by Simon Starke.
